Hairy Solomon's Seal is a perennial wildflower native to eastern Canada and the U.S.A. It is found in partial shade, to heavily shaded woodlands, slopes or thickets with average to moist rich soils. It is most commonly found in cove forests. It can be confused with P. biflorum but it is smaller, it has hairs on the undersides of the leaves, and has a smaller number of flowers in clusters (1-3, vs. up to 12). This plant is sensitive to heat. This plant spreads slowly by rhizomes.
