What to look for: Much like the Front Shade Garden, Part Sun-Part Shade Garden has a labyrinth of paths that take you past many different kinds of plants that thrive in the dappled, ever-changing light. The Part Sun-Part Shade Garden features plants at every level, from ground level to the canopy. It has a mix of evergreen and deciduous plants to provide four seasons of interest. The cool, shady parts are a haven from the summer heat.

The sunniest area is around the patio, where there is a display of Cretaceous period petrified palms and conifers and pots of tender, hybrid agaves spending the summer outdoors. The Cattail bridge over Mystic Creek leads to the ‘Bridal Veil’ Flowering Apricot. The understory is a mix of Carex, Lady Slippers, Ferns, Hellebores, Jack in the Pulpits, Hostas, Trilliums and so much more.

Horticulture: JLBG is maintained by a team of professionals and volunteers.
