- Description
-
This inviting demonstration garden is at the entrance to the Cabarrus County Extension Office. Extending around the building this drought tolerant garden has a walkway for passers by to enjoy the variety of native plants, woody ornamentals, and perennials. Many of the plants attract pollinators and the garden shows how to effectively choose plants that work well in small spaces, along walls, and as foundation plantings. Note the peeling bark of the nine bark hybrid 'Summer Wine'. Used as a specimen, it has been pruned into a small tree adding beauty and interest all year long, but especially in winter when much of the garden is quiet.
