Trillium simile

Description

Jeweled Wakerobin is a native spring flowering perennial wildflower with showy pink blooms.  It is found in the Appalachian mountains of the southeastern U.S.A. In nature, it can be found growing in very rich soils of slopes and coves over mafic or calcareous rocks, often also in or near seepage. 

Flowers usually fragrant. Avoid overwatering in the summer. NC Threatened species.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  No serious problems.  Slugs and snails are occasional pests and leaf spot, rust and smut are occasional disease problems. It does not transplant well.
