- Description
-
Stokes Japanese Holly is an evergreen, slow-growing, compact holly native to Asia. It grows 2-3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. The small glossy dark green leaves resemble boxwoods but are alternate rather than opposite in arrangement. It is tolerant of deer, heat & humidity, pollution, rabbits, drought and salt.
Plant in moist, acidic, well-drained average soil in full to partial shade. It tolerates a wide range of soil types. The plant is adaptable to pruning and can be used in topiary, or as a specimen, foundation planting or in borders. The slow growth rate lends it to container growing.
