- Description

Kleim's hardy is a semi-dwarf cold-hardy gardenia with showy, highly fragrant white flowers shown off by bright golden stamens and thick lustrous dark emerald green foliage. It can be a houseplant or planted outdoors. When planted outdoors in hot climates it prefers morning sun with afternoon shade. It can tolerate full sun but be sure to use organic mulch to cover the roots. This gardenia does best in consistently moist, well-drained, acidic soil that is organically rich. This plant is resistant to damage by deer.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: This plant suffers from many problems. Aphids mealybugs, scale, spider mites, and whiteflies. Anthracnose, leaf spots, powdery mildew, and sooty mold. Soils that are too alkaline will cause chlorosis (yellowing) of leaves.
