Description

'September Charm' anemone is a hybrid of the Japanese anemones in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).

'September Charm' will grow 3 to 4 feet tall and spread 2- to 3 feet wide forming colonies by spreading rhizomes. Plant in full sun to partial shade in consistently moist well-drained soil. Divide rhizomes as needed to propagate. Contact dermatitis can occur for some people so wear gloves.

The 2 to 3-inch silvery pink flowers are gracefully carried atop long wiry stems. They bloom in late summer to early fall. Received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Use this plant in groups along a woodland garden or in a cottage garden. It is salt tolerant so it can be used in coastal gardens. It will attract bees and butterflies for a pollinator garden.

Insects. Diseases and Other Plant Problems:  Flea beetles, caterpillars, and slugs are occasional pests.  Susceptible to Synchytrium leaf gall, downy mildew, Septoria leaf spot, powdery mildew, and some viruses.
