What to look for: Foundation plantings can take many forms from very formal to loose and relaxed. This homeowner chose plants with color and texture and a loose shape for a casual effect. There is a good contrast between the gold mop false cypress and the purple leaf loropetalum. The mahonia adds a very strong leaf texture against the light color of the brick
The daylilies will bloom soon to add even more color. The hibiscus, the large shrub in the third picture, will bloom later in the summer.
