- Description
-
Prague Viburnum is a dense evergeen shrub that is a cross between V. rhytidophyllum and V. utile that grows 8-12 feet tall and wide with an oval to rounded form. It produces large fragrant flat-topped cymes of white flowers in spring and berries in the fall. The evergreen feature makes this a great hedge or specimen plant. In its northernmost zones, it may die to the ground in sub-zero weather but will regrow in spring.
Grow this shrub in average, moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. Use as a foundation plant, specimen, hedge or in a shrub border.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: bacterial leaf spot, mildews and crown gall are potential diseases. Also aphids and scale can be insect problems. The Clemson Cooperative Extension Home and Garden Information Center has a factsheet on common pests and diseases.
