Jiro Persimmon Diospyros kaki 'Jiro'
- Phonetic Spelling
- dy-oh-SPE-ros KAH-ky
- Description
-
Jiro Persimmon is one of the most cold-hardy cultivars. The fruit is sweet, mild, and non-astringent. It sets fruit without pollination but planting two cultivars is recommended to ensure a better fruit-set. Persimmons are tolerant of a wide range of soil types except non-draining clay soils. Plant in full sun for best fruit production. In the fall it has showy leaf color and fruits stay on the tree into winter providing additional interest.
