- Description
-
Creeping Broadleaf Sedge is a perennial sedge grown for its attractive foliage that forms a dense mass and creates bold texture in any landscape. It is native to eastern Asia and is fond of partial to full shade and moist soils. It has 1.25 in. wide green leaves; spreads by rhizomes but is easy to manage and maintain. It tolerates wet planting sites very well so can be planted along a pond or riparian areas. Mass plant it along woodland borders or shade gardens or its coarse texture works well as an accent plant in small spaces. Propagate it by division.
The genus name Carex is Latin for cutter which refers to its sharp leaves and stems.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: No serious problems.
