Weeping Brown Sedge Carex flagellifera 'Toffee Twist'

Other Common Name(s):

Description

Weeping brown sedge provides an interesting shiny brown element to the landscape. It is a cool season grass and provides interest in autumn. This plant is grown for its blades rather than flowers. Carex flagellifera 'Toffee Twist' might last more than one season (annual) if temperatures do not get to or below 5 degrees Fahrenheit: therefore it can be an annual or a perennial.

Pruning & Propagation advice: If grown in an area where this plant is acting as a perennial, then early spring or after any snow possibilities is the time for this grass to be cut, pruning away about 2/3 of the plant (do not cut more than 2/3 of the plant as you could kill the plant). Spring is also a good time to propagate this plant through division and then move the plant to a new desired location (transplant).
