Solitude is a Grandiflora cultivar in the rose family (Rosaceae) that was bred by Olesen of Denmark and introduced to the United States in 1991. Parentage is Selfridges × Unnamed Seedling.
This vigorous rose grows upright and bushy to 4-6 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide. It prefers full sun in fertile moist well-drained soils. Prune to remove dead, diseased or crossed canes and to control size. Avoid overhead watering and crowding to help prevent diseases. Mulch will help retain moisture and control weeds.
The large double flowers are an orange-yellow-pink blend and have a mild spicy fragrance. It blooms in flushes throughout the season. Canes have prickles.
Use this rose as a specimen, in small groups, in a cutting garden, English garden or cottage garden.
