Description

Nympenburg is a deciduous hybrid musk shrub rose in the Rosaceae family. Bred by Reimer Kordes in 1954. Parentage is Sangerhausen x Sunmist.

The shrub will grow 6-8 feet tall or more if trained as a climber and 4 feet wide. It is and upright very bushy shrub that prefers full sun in fertile moist well-drained soil. Prune later winter to early summer to remove dead or diseased canes and prune the remaining canes by 1/3 to control size and encourage bushiness. Avoid overcrowding and overhead watering to help prevent diseases.

This rose produces large fragrant double salmon pink flowers in spring and continues in flushes through the season. The glossy green foliage is on stems with prickles.

Use this as a large shrub specimen in the garden or train to a trellis as a climber.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Black spot, powdery mildew and rust can occur. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
