- Description
-
Morning magic was bred in the US by William J Radler in 1993 and is a hybrid climber in the rose family (Rosaceae). It was introduced by Conard-Pyle of Star Roses in 2008. Parentage is RADsbs x RADspot.
This rose will grow 6-10 feet tall with a 3-8 foot spread. It prefers well-drained fertile soil in full sun. Blooming occurs on new wood, so pruning should be done in late winter to early spring before the spring flush of growth. Prune to remove any dead or diseased wood and crossed canes. The plant can be cut back by one-third in warmer climates but may require additional pruning in colder locations. Avoid overhead watering and crowding to help prevent diseases.
This large-flowered climbing rose boasts small clusters of showy 3-4 inch pink blooms that open in flushes throughout the season. Deadheading will encourage reblooming. The vine has glossy leaves and prickles.
Use this rose on a fence, trellis, arbor or other vertical support. It can be used for privacy or a barrier.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: High resistance to blackspot. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
