-
Ketchup & Mustard Rose is a hybrid floribunda in the Rosaceae family bred by Christian Bédard and released in 2012 by Weeks Wholesale Rose Grower, Inc. Parentage is City of San Francisco ™ × Shockwave™.
This upright bushy shrub will grow 4-5 feet tall and spread 3-4 feet wide. Plant at soil level, leaving the crown even with the soil in full sun in amended well-drained moist garden soil. Apply a balanced fertilizer in late winter or early spring and then again in early summer. Prune in late winter to early spring to remove old, dead or damaged canes and to shape the shrub.
The 3-4 in double flowers are deep red with a yellow reverse and a mild apple tea fragrance. They are high-centered to cupped, grow in clusters and repeat blooms in flushes through fall. Glossy green foliage provides a nice background for the flowers. Stems have prickles.
Received the All-American Rose Selection award.
Use the shrub in the border, as a specimen or in groups such as a hedge or for screening and privacy. Use in the cutting or cottage gardens or in a container.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Although serious issue are rare, problems with aphids, caterpillars, and sawfly can occur. Occasional diseases can include rose black spot, powdery mildew and rose rust. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
