Description

Celeste is an old hybrid shrub in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred in the Netherlands by an unknown person in the 1700s. Parentage is unknown.

Celeste will grow 5-7 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide in a bushy form. Plant in full sun to partial shade in amended well-drained garden soil. Prune when flowering is completed. Very cold resistant.

The 2-3 inch shell pink flowers with yellow stamens are semi-double with a strong sweet fragrance. It blooms once in June-July. The attractive foliage is gray-green and the canes have prickles.

It has achieved the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.

Use this shrub in the border, as a hedge or a specimen in a formal or informal garden.
