Royal Bonica Meidland is a hybrid floribunda rose in the Rosaceae family. It was bred by Marie-Louise Meilland in France in 1982.
This rose will grow 3-5 feet tall and 4-5 ft wide. It prefers moist fertile well-drained soil in full sun but will tolerate some light shade. Avoid crowding and overhead watering to discourage diseases. Prune in late winter to remove damaged and diseased canes and to control the size.
Royal Bonica Meidland blooms with large double fragrant pink flowers in clusters from late spring until frost on arching canes. It will produce orange rose hips in the fall.
Use this shrub as a specimen, in groups, as a barrier, for privacy or screening, in cottage or English gardens or as a foundation plant.
Royal Bonica Meidland has won the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society, the All-American Rose Award and was named World's Favorite Rose in 1997
