Rosa America™ 'JACclam'
Common Name(s):
- Phonetic Spelling
- RO-zuh
- Description
-
America is a climbing rose that was introduced in 1976 and was bred by William A. Warriner.
This is a vigorous climber that grows rapidly to 10-14 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide. It does best in full sun in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. For best results apply fertilizer in early spring and again in summer. Mulch to help retain moisture.
America begins blooming in spring and repeat blooms during the season. The fragrant flowers are double coral with a clove scent that contract nicely with the dark green foliage.
Use this plant in vertical spaces along arbors or trellis, in borders, along walls or fences. It is even able to climb bare walls.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Has shown good resistance to powdery mildew, rust, and blackspot. See pests of roses to the left.
The Clemson Cooperative Extension Home and Garden Information Center has a factsheet on common rose diseases as well as a factsheet on insects and other related pests.
