Description

Cyclamen Daffodil is a flowering perennial bulbous herb in the onion family that grows up to 10 inches high. These miniature daffodil bulbs should be planted in the fall to enjoy the sunny yellow color in early spring. The plant has grass-like leaves and a single, yellow flower has very strong reflexed petals and a long, slender corona, which are key distinguishing features.

Cyclamen Daffodil prefer well -drained, consistently moist, lime free soil. Plant the bulbs 6 weeks before the first freeze, 4 to 5 inches below the soil surface. This plant benefits from the addition of bone meal or super phosphate to the planting hole. Cyclamen Daffodil is tolerant of heat and drought, but intolerant of extremely wet conditions.  They are resistant to damage by deer and rabbits.

Mass plant in beds or border fronts, in rock gardens, at the base of trees, in lawns, or in containers. They naturalize easily, spreading, and multiplying over time.Cut foliage back after it has browned naturally. Cyclamen Daffodil is relatively slow to mature, taking 2 to 5 years to reach full height.

Quick ID Hints:

  • 1 flower per stem, slightly nodding, short-necked, yellow
  • Perianth segments are significantly reflexed
  • Corona is a long, narrow tube

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:

Watch for slugs, snails and bulb mites. Bulb rot can occur in wet soils. This plant tends to be pest and disease resistant due to its poisonous alkaloid content.
