Evolvulus 'Blue My Mind'

Phonetic Spelling
ee-VALV-yoo-lus
Description

Morning Glories are a genus of about 100 species that includes perennials, annuals, and shrubs. 'Blue My Mind', a dwarf cultivar of morning glory, is an herbaceous perennial although it is most often grown as an annual in North Carolina. The true blue flowers and fuzzy, silvery-green foliage are very heat tolerant, making it a great addition to southern gardens,  No dead-heading required to keep it blooming from spring until first frost. Blooms will close in the afternoon. The plant grows to1 foot tall and trails up to 2 feet. The genus name comes from the Latin word evolvo meaning "to untwist or unravel" because members of this genus do not twine.

Plant in average garden soils with average moisture, good draining soil, and full sun to maximize blossoms. It does not mind hot climates, but will do best with some afternoon shade. Once established it can tolerate heat and some drought. Use as a ground cover or in containers and hanging baskets in full sun.
