Description

Fetterbush is a  low spreading, twiggy deciduous shrub in the Ericaceae (blueberry) family that is native to the eastern USA. It grows in moist forests, granite domes, heath balds and bogs at elevations up to 5000 feet and is found in the mountains of NC. It generally grows 6-8 feet high and flowers before the leaves appear in spring. The white urn-shaped flowers dangle on arching one-sided racemes at the ends of last years twigs. The fall color is red.

This plant requires moist fertile soil in partial shade. It may be difficult to find for sale.
