'Betty Stiles' Harlequin Glorybower Clerodendrum trichotomum 'Betty Stiles'

Phonetic Spelling
kle-ro-DEN-drum tri-ko-TO-mum
Description

'Betty Stiles', a cultivar of C. trichotomum, is an open, multi-stemmed, ornamental shrub with vibrant colors that will make a charming addition to your garden. It tends to be more cold hardy and has a more uniform form than its parent. Its beautiful flowers bloom throughout the summer and will have you thinking of Christmas and the stately home gardens of Europe. This plant adds texture, shape and  beauty to your garden and will be a joy for years to come.

Plant 'Betty Stiles' in full sun to light shade in, well-drained soil.  Mulch the roots heavily in the fall to protect them through the winter, otherwise, the plant may not survive.  'Betty Stiles' can spread by means of suckers from the roots.  To prevent this, plant it in a lawn where the mower will cut the suckers off. Alternatively, you can grow the plant in a container.
