Description

More heat tolerant than most firs, but prefers cool moist locations.  Casts dense shade. Not tolerant of compacted soil or air pollution.  Often damaged by deer.  Disease problems include root rot, needle rust and twig blight.

Commonly used as ornamental yard tree and screen.  Easy to transplant; shallow root system; these trees grow more slowly than other firs.

Site: Sun; moist, well drained soil; dislikes wet feet

Texture: fine to medium

Native to South Korea.
