Deck Planting

This planting is in the corner of the stairs and deck and is a fairly shaded location. The variegated evergreen Daphne odora provides fragrant late winter flowers while the Illicium parviflorum has anise smelling leaves when crushed and is also evergreen. Notice that leaves have been used to provide not only mulch but will eventually become compost. The stones were gathered from the property to create the border.
