Viburnum Yang® 'NCVX3'
Common Name(s):
- Description
-
Yang viburnum is a cultivar developed by Tom Ranney of NCSU by crossing V. davidii x V. propinquum to create a compact shrub reaching only 2 feet tall and 4 feet wide.
Grow Yang viburnum in full sun or partial shade in average, moist, well-drained garden soil. If pruning is needed, do so immediately after blooming, as it flowers on old wood. It is deer, rabbit and heat-tolerant.
The rounded clusters of dainty white flowers appear in spring. The flowers are followed by elliptical blue fruit if pollinated by Yin® viburnum. The glossy blue-green leaves are deeply veined and stay attractive all year.
Use Yang viburnum as an edging plant due to its low and wide growth pattern, in borders, in groups, as a foundation plant and in a cutting, pollinator, cottage, winter or English garden. The Flowers attract pollinators and the berries attract songbirds.
