Nagasa Bamboo Sasa veitchii
Other Common Name(s):
- Phonetic Spelling
- SAH-sah veet-CHEE-eye
- Description
-
Nagasa bamboo is a spreading bamboo that forms clumps of slender canes. Its leaf margins become light cream color in late fall while the leaf center remains dark green, making this a unique addition to your garden. It can be displayed as a shrubby type plant or as a groundcover. Cutting the plants to the ground after its spring flush will give you a beautiful groundcover. For a taller plant, cut to the ground in the spring before its new growth begins.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Its root system can lead to this plant becoming quite aggressive in the garden.
