Salpiglossis sinuata
Common Name(s):
- Phonetic Spelling
- sal-pih-GLOSS-iss sin-yoo-AH-tah
- Description
-
Cool weather annual that performs best in areas with cool summer temperatures. Plant in full sun. In hot summer climates, consider a site with some afternoon shade. Put mulch around the plants so the roots remain cool. It may decline with high temperatures.
Plants are easily grown in moderately fertile but consistently moist soil. Water moderately but do not let the soil dry out. The soil must have good drainage as the plant dislikes wet feet. Fertilize lightly as the plant is sensitive to nitrogen.
Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional bloom. Taller plants may need staking. Good cut flower.
