Rise'n'Shine is a hybrid miniature shrub rose in the Rosaceae family bred by Ralph S. Moore in 1977. Parentage is Little Darling x Yellow Magic.
This dense bushy rounded shrub grows only 1-3 feet tall and wide and prefers full sun in amended well-drained moist garden soil. It is somewhat drought-tolerant once established. In later winter to early spring prune out dead and diseased canes and prune the shrub to 1/3 its size. Provide late spring frost protection to new growth.
Deep yellow fragrant double flowers occur singly or in clusters and bloom continuously through fall. They are 1-2 inches wide and have 26-40 petals. Rose hips will form if some of the flowers are not pruned off in the fall. Foliage is medium glossy green on stems with prickles.
Use this small shrub in a container on the patio, along walkways or other small spaces, in the border front or in groups. Plant in a cutting, cottage of a pollinator garden.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Watch for rust, black spot and powdery mildew. See pests of roses to the left.
