'Eden Rose' is a shrub or climber in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Marie-Louise Meillan and introduced in France in 1985 as 'Pierre de Ronsard'. It is part of their Renaissance® Collection. Parentage is ['Danse des Sylphes' × 'Handel'] × 'Pink Wonder'.
This bushy rose can be grown as a climber or a large shrub reaching 4-12 feet tall and 5-6 feet wide. Plant it in the full sun in fertile moist well-drained soil and give it regular irrigation and fertilization.
The pink and white double flowers are 3-4 inches wide with up to 70 petals. The first flush is the heaviest but then it blooms continuously throughout the season. The dark green glossy leaves are on canes with prickles.
In 2006, it was selected as 'World's Favorite Rose', the highest title a rose can be granted, and inducted into the Rose Hall of Fame in 2007.
Use 'Eden Rose' as a specimen, in groups or on any verticle surface. Use in a cottage or cutting garden.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Very disease resistant. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
