Lace Cascade is a hybrid climbing rose in the Rosaceae family that was bred by William A. Warriner in 1993 and introduced to the United States by Bear Creek Gardens, Inc. Lace Cascade descends from R. ‘Iceberg’ x R. ‘Prairie Fire.’ Patent No: PP 8,689
This climbing rose has tall arching canes that grow 8 to 12 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide. It will do best in fertile well-drained moist soil in full sun. Provide some spring fertilizer and mulch to retain moisture. Prune in late winter to early spring.
The medium double white-to-white blend flowers appear in small clusters and have a light fragrance. The shrub repeat blooms in flushes throughout the season. The foliage is medium green and glossy on canes with prickles.
Use this rose on a trellis, fence or other verticle support. It can be used as a privacy screen or specimen in an English garden, cutting garden or cottage garden.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Good disease resistance but watch for black spot and mildew. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse the plant.
