'In the Mood' is a Hybrid Tea shrub in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Tom Caruth and introduced by Weeks Roses in 2007. Parentage is `City of San Francisco ™ × Olympiad ™. It is a patented rose.
This shrub grows 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide in an upright bushy form that fills out to the ground. Plant in full sun in amended well-drained moist garden soil. Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead and crossed canes and prune to 1/3 its size. Remove damaged or diseased canes at any time.
The large double bright red flowers hold their color despite the weather and grow solitary on long stems. They have no to mild fragrance, 26-40 petals and are 5 inches across. It blooms heavily in late spring to early summer with scattered reblooming later. The foliage is large, dark green and semi-glossy on canes with prickles.
Awarded the All-American Rose Selection in 2007.
Use this shrub in the border, as a specimen, in small groups for a hedge in the cutting or cottage garden.
