'Frau Karl Druschki' is a hybrid shrub in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Peter Lambert of Germany and released in 1901. Parentage is Merveille de Lyon × Madame Caroline Testout.
It will grow 4-6 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide in a narrow slightly arching form. Plant in full sun in amended moist well-drained garden soils of various types. Little pruning is needed, mostly to remove dead or diseased canes. It prefers cooler summer climates.
The nearly pure white flowers with no fragrance are 4-5 inches across with 26-40 petals occurring mostly singly in early summer. It may repeat bloom later in the season. Flowers tend to ball in rainy climates. Rose hips are occasionally formed if not deadheaded. Dark green foliage on stems armed with prickles.
Use this rose in the border back, as an accent or in small groups in the cottage or cutting garden.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Watch for rust, black spot and powdery mildew in humid conditions. See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
