Dr. Van Fleet is a hybrid Wichurana climbing rose in the Rosaceae family bred by Dr. Walter Van Fleet of the United States in 1899. It was introduced to the United States in 1910. Parentage is (Rosa wichuraiana x Safrano) x Souvenir du President Carnot
This rose will grow 15-25 feet tall and up to 10 feet wide. Plant in full sun to partial shade in amended well-drained garden soil.
The flowers are pale pink, 3-4 inches across, semi-double with a mild fragrance. Blooms once in spring or summer. Glossy green bronze-tinged leaves are on stems with prickles.
Use this shrub on any vertical surface, as a hedge, for screening or in the cottage or cutting garden.
