Description

Beauty secret is a hybrid miniature shrub rose in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Ralph S. Moore in 1965. Parentage is Little Darling × Magic Wand. It is one of the oldest miniature roses.

This small shrub grows 1-2 feet tall and wide and requires full sun in fertile well-drained moist soil. Prune after flowering is complete. provide winter protection by mulching, even covering the plant completely. 

The nearly black buds open to deep red double fragrant flowers that are 1-2 inches wide and have 17-25 petals. Each petal ends in a point giving it a distinct look. It will repeat bloom in flushes throughout the season. Leaves are glossy dark green and stems have prickles.

Use beauty secret in the front of the border, planted en masse or in pots for the patio and walkways.
