Pieris x 'Brouwer's Beauty'

Phonetic Spelling
pee-AIR-iss x BROW-uhrs byoo·tee
Description

'Brouwers' Beauty' is an evergreen shrub that is a hybrid between a native plant and a Japanese plant. The shrub is dense and slow-growing to a height of 5-7 feet with a similar spread.  The urn-shaped flowers are lightly scented and open in early spring on horizontal to arching panicles. The foliage is attractive during the summer and purplish-red buds add winter interest.

Plant in full sun to light shade in well-drained soils with compost added and mulch to retain moisture. The plant can be pruned, but keep in mind that next season's blossoms will appear on old growth.

Diseases, Insect Pests, and Other Plant Problems:

Poorly drained soils can result in root rot.
