Phonetic Spelling

Description

The Round Leaf Peperomia is a creeping, semi-succulent, herbaceous perennial and an epiphyte that is native to Central and South America. Its trailing and creeping habit and peculiar round leaves make it great for hanging baskets. The leaves are bright green, small, round, and plump. This plant is ideal as a houseplant or office plant due to its easy care and compact size.

The plant prefers bright, indirect sunlight and moist, well-drained soil. Avoid cold drafts and direct sunlight. The plant thrives in high humidity, but it is tolerant of normal household conditions. If needed mist the plant periodically.

Quick ID Hints:

  • creeping, semi-succulent, epiphyte, trailing habit, up to 12 inches long
  • slender, fleshy, brownish stems with fine hairs
  • thick, round, soft, bright green leaves with light green veins
  • flowers are small yellowish spikes

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  Monitor for mealybugs. It may be susceptible to root rot, cutting rot, and ring spots. Curling leaves may result from low humidity or dry soil. Yellow leaves result from overwatering.
