- Description
-
Patriania is a clumping herbaceous perennial native to eastern Asia in the Caprifoliaceae (honeysuckle) family.
The tall, minimally leaved stems arise from a mound of basal leaves. Atop these stems sit tiny chrome-yellow flowers.
Due to the height of the plant, they may need some support.
A sunny location is important, it will not grow in the shade.
The flower buds, stem tips and leaves are edible, added to soups fresh or dried.
Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: Slugs and snails may damage young leaves. It is generally disease free, however, it is an alternate host for Daylily Rust. Planting this specimen in your garden can lead to the rust spreading to your daylilies.
