Other Common Name(s):

Previously known as:

  • Gaura lindheimeri 'Belleza'
Phonetic Spelling

Description

Belleza® Gaura is a compact cultivar with light pink, dark pink and white striped star-shaped flowers.  The 4 petals are. held fan-like and have long prominent stamens. The plant has a reddish color to it year long due to the new growth being red, the green leaves having a red midrib and the stems being red.  The pink flowers in small clusters contrast nicely with the dark leaves. This plant will repeat bloom from spring through fall. The long taproot makes it drought tolerant but difficult to transplant.

This plant needs well-drained average soil to prevent root rot, especially during the wet NC winters. Plant in full sun to light shade in the pollinator garden as a border or specimen plant. It also looks great in small groupings. The flowers will attract bees and butterflies.
