Mahonia Funky Flow® 'NCMH1'

Common Name(s):

Description

The  Funky Flow® mahonia is a cultivar of the Oregon grape mahonia bred by Dr. Thomas Ranney of NCSU. It will grow only 3 to 4 feet tall and wide.

Funky Flow® prefers partial shade to dappled sun but tolerates full sun in most any amended, moist, well-drained soils. It is resistant to deer, drought, heat, humidity and general pests and diseases. It grows in a compact, dense, rounded form.

The evergreen to semi-evergreen compound leaves are less spiky and softer than other mahonias. The bright yellow flowers will appear sporadically in fall, winter, and spring. The flowers are followed by clusters of round blue berries.

Use this shrub in a container around the patio, in borders of shade, woodland, winter, Asian or cottage gardens.
