Golden monkey grass Liriope muscari 'Pee Dee Ingot'

Description

'Pee Dee Ingot' is a cultivar of lilyturf grass in the Asparagaceae (asparagus) family that was named after the Pee Dee River of the Carolinas.  This cultivar has short rhizomes so it stays in a clump and doesn't spread aggressively as others in this species can. This plant is not a grass but has grass-like leaves that will stay yellow all year if given some sun but become more chartreuse in the shade. It blooms in late summer to fall with hyacinth-type flowers.

Use this plant in borders, as a ground cover or even in containers.  Pairs well with plants that have dark leaves and will brighten up a shady spot. It will grow in partial sun to dappled shade and prefers moist but well-drained soils. Provide water during drought for the best appearance.
