Halesia diptera has a better floral display than H. carolina, although it blooms 1-2 weeks later. Although it suffers during drought, it is otherwise adaptive to environmental conditions. Halesia diptera has low branches and can be grown either as a large, multi-stemmed shrub or trained as a single trunk tree.
The cultivar 'Magnifora' produces more flowers and is more drought-tolerant than species Halesia diptera.
