Gazania krebsiana 'Tanager'

Description

Tanager® gazania is a perennial cultivar with shockingly orange flowers in the Asteraceae (daisy) family.

With its long flowering season, this clump forming perennial will provide large, deep orange/red flowers with a speckled ring of black, brown or white. A prolific repeat bloomer.

A perfect plant for a dry sunny border or an alpine rock garden.

May self-sow in the garden, producing volunteers.

Grows best in full sun.  The flowers close in the nighttime and during the day when the weather includes overcast skies.

It has a high resistance to powdery mildew, leaf spot, leaf scorch, and root rot.

In its native habitat of South Africa it is an important food source for tortoises.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems:  This plant doesn't like wet feet.
