Description

Broadleaf sedge is a native herbaceous perennial in the sedge family (Cyperaceae). It is found in Canada and the central and southern states. It is uncommon in North Carolina. The species epithet is compounded from the Greek meaning "broad leaf."

This species grows in moist shade in humus-rich soil.
