Bursera simaruba

Description

Gumbo-limbo is a large evergreen tree in the Burseraceae family native to Florida.  The common name tourist tree comes from the bark which is smooth and reddish with peeling pieces, resembling sunburned skin, a common occurrence in Florida.

This tree is considered highly tolerant of wind and is resistant to storm damage.
