Description

Magnificent Brunfelsia is an evergreen tropical-looking flowering shrub in the nightshade family.  It has large showy purple flowers that last 4-5 days and fade to lilac to white.  The flowers are produced at the end of the new growth, therefore the more branches you have the more flowers you get and they display nearly year-around. Prune this plant anytime except between Sept. and Nov, when the flowers develop. In the northern part of its range, it will be deciduous.

Its preference is for consistently moist, rich and well-drained acidic soil. In NC it will need to be brought indoors for the winter. Provide with direct sun for 3-4 hours daily. Keep soil moist while it is actively growing and decrease watering when dormant.
