Description

Brugmansia x candida, or Yellow Angel's Trumpet, is a broadleaf evergreen, 5-foot flowering shrub or small tree with large white or pink flowers. The plant grows well in organically rich, well-drained soil, in full sun. In the spring and summer, the plant will respond to regular fertilization with new growth and flowers. The flowers are 6 to 12 inches long, fragrant and pendulous (hanging) with yellow flowers that mature to white or pink. Cultivars exist with additional flower colors.

Yellow Angel's Trumpet is a tropical plant and typically grown as a container plant or houseplant, but can be placed in the landscape as a woody or herbaceous shrub in zones 8-10. Heavy flowering does not occur until the second year. During the growing season,  the plant requires regular fertilization to stimulate new growth and flowers. If the plant is grown outdoors, be prepared to pot it and move it indoor in the fall

Diseases, Insects, and Other Plant Problems:

No serious insect or disease problems. However, it is susceptible to many of the problems common to indoor plants. Watch for caterpillars, spider mites and whiteflies, particularly on overwintering plants.
