Compact coral barberry Berberis x stenophylla 'Corallina Compacta'

Description

'Corallina Compacta' is a dwarf evergreen shrub cultivar in the Berberidaceae (barberry) family. This shrub grows to about 1.5 feet tall and wide with narrow leaves and showy yellow-orange flowers in the spring. In fall it has dark purple fruits.It has spine-tipped branches.

This plant tolerates most soils except wet heavy clay and does best in full sun but tolerates light shade. It is drought tolerant once established.

Use in the border, in pots, in small spaces, rock gardens or as a barrier to foot traffic. It is also used in bonsai.
