Description

Sweet Juliet® is a shrub rose in the Rosaceae family bred by  David Austin of the United Kingdom in 1989 who named it after a famous Shakespeare character. Parentage is Graham Thomas × Admired Miranda ®.

This shrub will grow 3-5 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide in a dense form that fills out to the base.  Regular watering and fertilizing are required to maintain a quality appearance.  The Best flowering will occur in rich, well-drained moist soil in the full sun.  Prune in late winter and protect it from winter wind damage. Remove dead, diseased and crossed canes and prune to control size.

The 2-3 inch fragrant double apricot-blend flowers are very full with 40-70 petals. They appear in small clusters in flushes throughout the season. The glossy foliage is on stems with prickles.

Use this shrub in the border, as a hedge or as a specimen in the cutting, English or cottage garden.

Insects, Diseases and Other Plant Problems:  This plant has good disease resistance for a rose. Watch for downy mildew, powdery mildew, rose black spot and rose rust. See peasts of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
