Description

Rene Andre is a hybrid rambler in the rose family (Rosaceae) bred by Barbier Freres & Compagnie in 1901. It was introduced in Australia in 1911. Parentage is Rosa luciae Franch. & Rochebr. × L'Idéal

This climbing rose will grow 15-20 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide. It will flower best in full sun to partial shade and fertile well-drained moist soil. Prune after blooming is complete to remove any diseases, dead or crossed canes and to control size.

Coppery pink semi-double flowers with a strong sweet apple fragrance appear mostly singly in early summer. It will occasionally repeat bloom later in the season. The glossy dark green leaves appear on canes with many prickles.

Insects, Diseases, and Other Plant Problems: See pests of roses to the left. Deer will browse roses.
